Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read. — Groucho Marx
Before the pandemic, I would cross the street, get on an Amtrak (The Nor’easter), and head into North Station. The trip is a solid 43 minutes from my stop to the station. The commute home was the same. During this time, I read and listened to a number of books. Also with the isolation of my pocket universe, I kept up reading throughout the year. I compiled a list of the 6 books that I really enjoyed this year or ones that taught me something. A couple of these aren’t from 2020 but are still excellent. I started off with 5, which is the standard, but fuck standards, it's 2020.
One of the perks of teaching at a university is I get access to their library, and most importantly, the Springer Books link. So, there are 3 on this list that are academic books.
Where I can, I linked all the books to Moonpalace Books. A small bookstore in Minneapolis that was in the middle of the BLM Riots this past summer.
