So, this is on the fly, but it’s not an unknown that I’m a advocate for kids at conferences.

I’ve praised ESRI in the past for the family friendly map camp and child care, and I think this was less of an ESRI thing as much of an SD conference center thing, but a woman was removed from the UC. Someone DM’d me Jack Dangermond’s email. So I sent this to him.

Sir,

While we have our differences the one thing I have praised your organization for is its family friendly aspect of the UC.

This tweet was brought to my attention:

I know you are a father and as such I am sure you’ve had a situation with your children that was less than optimal. Throwing a fellow spatial professional out of a conference doesn’t seem like an action that would come from you or from ESRI. Can you please denounce this act?

Thank you

Any parent has had “that day” where everything goes sideways. That shouldn’t been removed from a conference, they should be guided to child care.

Again, I don’t think this is an ESRI thing at all. But it needs to be denounced and understood for what it was.
